On Sunday 25th June, 10 of our students formed a team to participate in this years Barbarians rugby fun day. The day is driven by values of fun, sportsmanship and love of the game. Despite some very tough competition our boys never gave up and played with everything they had, securing a win in the first round but were unlucky in the next two. To help schools on the day, each team is provided with a Barbarian. This year Mataafa Keenan was assigned to our school. Mataafa played for Auckland between 1981 – 1991 and Pontypool RFC (in Wales), and represented Samoa at the 1991 Rugby World Cup. As well as free milo and sausages, some of the Blues players turned up to cheer the teams on and sign autographs. A big thank you to all the parents who helped with coaching, transporting, taking photos and setting up our tent area.
